Meet, Jose R. Urbina

Jose R. Urbina (B.1981) originally from Guatemala City, is based Charlotte, North Carolina. Immigrating to the US as a child left him feeling disconnected from his peers. Throughout grammar and high school, art became his means of making friends and expressing his evolving perspective on the world's interconnectedness. While attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, José gravitated towards sculpture as his expressive medium. His work is influenced by his fascination with natural systems and human-made objects and materials. José's work has been featured in various group shows in Charlotte, North Carolina
